The mark

The crowned A

The A is for Alvarez. The crown is eight prongs, one for every thread of Mike’s family, and a single band holds them together.

Every line came out of his own sketchbook. Not bad for a guy who calls himself Critter Can’t Draw.

Fresh & healed

How it works

Four steps
  1. Illustration: an open sketchbook of pencil tattoo concepts with a pencil and eraser

    Step 1: Consult

Thirty minutes, free, no pressure. Bring the idea, a reference or two, and where you want it.

You leave knowing the size, the placement, the price and the date. No guessing, and no surprise at the counter.

Not sure yet? That’s what the half hour is for.

  2. Illustration: a finished rose-and-dagger tattoo stencil on transfer paper

    Step 2: Design

Your idea comes back as a drawing made for you and nobody else. Not flash off a wall, not a stock design.

Then the stencil goes on your skin, and you see the exact piece in the exact spot before a needle touches you.

If something’s off, it comes off and gets redrawn. You go into the chair sure.

  3. Illustration: a bottle of black ink in front of violet, magenta, green and blue ink bottles, beside a coil tattoo machine

    Step 3: Ink

Moody blacks, serious greys, or bold, vivid pops of color. Your tattoo is unique to you, so he uses only the most vivid, highest industry-standard inks to make sure your piece stands the test of time.

Fresh needles, sealed ink, a licensed shop, and the pace set by you. Breaks whenever you need them.

One artist, start to finish. The hands that drew it are the hands that put it in.

  4. Illustration: an open tub of healing ointment beside a roll of gauze bandage

    Step 4: Heal

You walk out with the aftercare written down, so the healing goes as well as the session did.

He checks in while it heals. A question at 10pm on a Tuesday gets a straight answer, not a voicemail.

Healed right, it looks like the day it was done. That’s the whole point.
